Ship Terminology (Tanker)

This game will be very useful for students of maritime educational institutions, merchant marine workers who want to improve their level of knowledge, and just people who are interested in how a ship works. As you progress through the game, you will study the drawings of the ship, the compartments in it, the mechanisms and equipment in the compartments and on the decks. For each term, a brief description is also given of why it is needed and sometimes how it works. This game was developed using examples of real tankers. Tankers are specialized ships designed for the transportation of liquid cargoes in bulk. They are used to carry a wide range of liquids, including crude oil, oil products, chemicals, liquefied gases, molten sulfur, and even orange juice. The nature of their cargo requires specific construction and outfitting to ensure safe and efficient transportation.

You will be able to study the drawings of the ship by zooming them in, read the names of rooms and compartments. By clicking on the transition button, you will go to a specific deck, compartment, or room. As you progress through the game, the transition buttons will be highlighted according to your progress, and on each drawing, you will be able to see what you have already learned and what you have not yet.

Once in the new room you will see a picture from a real ship. On the right side of the screen, you will be shown a list of terms that you need to find in this room. By clicking on a word, you will see it highlighted. If you know what it is and where it is, feel free to mark it in the picture.

If you don’t know, then you can zoom in on the picture and study it more carefully.

If this term is not at all familiar to you, then please click on the “Dictionary” button (Book in a blue circle), and a description of this item, mechanism, equipment, or ship design will appear on the screen. Congratulations, you have learned something new, and I hope it will help you in your career and life!

If the description did not help you in any way, and you still don’t know where this term is in the picture, then for your convenience there is a “Help” button (Lifebuoy in the green square). When you press this button, a mark will appear on the screen for a few seconds directly above what you should find, please be more careful.

When the picture already has marks of found objects, you can click on them and a window with a description of this term will appear again so that you can once again fix it in your memory.

Be careful in each room and on each drawing, there is a “Reset” button (Arrow with a turn in a red circle). When you click on this button, all progress in this room or on the deck will be reset. Don’t be upset if you accidentally press it, this means you have a chance to consolidate your knowledge. This is not a competitive game, it is just educational, and the “Reset” button is made just so that you can go through the game again whenever you want.

The game has a "Progress" section where you can track your progress. Each deck or compartment is listed on a separate line and progress is marked with percentages in numbers and a color progress scale. By clicking on the line with the deck or compartment you are interested in, you will immediately go there. Be careful, there is also a “Reset” button here that will delete achievements in the entire game. It is also made so that you can go through the game again whenever you want.

For your convenience, we have created a “Dictionary” section in which all the terms from the game are arranged alphabetically. You can scroll up or down in the dictionary, or search by spelling of a word.

After you have found a term that interests you in the dictionary, you can click on it and go to the room where this term is located, there will be a mark on it, by clicking on which you will see a description of this term.
